But there is a constant challenge before the country to develop a dynamic IP regime to accommodate the technological advancements. This is necessary to catapult the\u00a0country among the league of\u00a0developed and pro-IP nations.\u00a0 In this context the decade of 2011-2020 was declared as the Decade of Innovation. The vision statement to develop a national IPR strategy according to the <a title=\"IPR Stategy\" href=\"http:\/\/dipp.nic.in\/English\/Schemes\/Intellectual_Property_Rights\/national_IPR_Strategy_21July2014.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion<\/a> (DIPP) is \u201cTo develop India during the Decade of Innovation into a major innovative, competitive and knowledge-based economy by\u00a0strategic utilization of intellectual property as an engine for accelerated growth and sustainable and inclusive development\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pursuant to this vision, the DIPP has constituted an <a href=\"http:\/\/dipp.nic.in\/English\/acts_rules\/Press_Release\/ipr_PressRelease_24October2014.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">IPR Think Tank<\/a> to draft the National Intellectual Property Rights Policy and to advice the DIPP on issues relating to IPR. The think tank comprises of six members headed by Justice (Retd) Prabha Sridevan.\u00a0 Among the various terms of references of the IPR Think Tank, its first and the foremost responsibility, is to draft the National IPR Policy. It would also identify the key areas that require further studies to be conducted and furnish recommendations as appropriate. It is required to analyse the anomalies in the present IPR regime, advice government on the best practices being followed by the foreign countries, suggest improvements for better infrastructure of the IP offices and Tribunals and examine the issues raised by various industry associations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As a first step toward developing country\u2019s first IPR Policy, the newly constituted IPR Think Tank is now inviting comments from stakeholders for its consideration.
